Works-For-Me-Wednesday!

I have three tips.

  1. When you roast a whole chicken, freeze the whole carcass in a large freezer Ziploc bag and save it for another dinner - soup. You can also boil the carcass with onions, carrots, celery, parsnips, salt, pepper and herbs for at least 4 hours to make a great stock too.
  2. To save time on cleaning my refrigerator, I place an aluminum foil on the bottom of each drawer. So when it's time to clean your drawers in your fridge, all you have to do is remove the foil and replace with a new one. Also, clean with a hot sponge or towel. The dirt lifts up easily.
  3. If you're a coffee lover like me, place the empty mug under hot water, heat the milk/half-and-half in the microwave or small pot with or without sweetener (however you like it) then add your nice hot brewed coffee. The coffee will stay hot longer.

Last fall I was in Africa doing malaria clinics and we were served tea and the milk that you could add was hot. It was an aha moment!

The coffee tip is brilliant! By the time I get my toast/whatever done, my coffee is cold and I have to reheat it. I'm going to try your idea tomorrow!
Instead of foil, I use a section of the newspaper in the bottoms of my fridge drawers--it's free!
